Do I have to pay import duty or tax on gemstones I buy from GemSelect?

In many countries, properly declared shipments are subject to customs charges and tax. Import tax or duty is the buyer's responsibility. However, every country has different rules on import duty and tax. For example, in the USA there is no duty or tax on loose gemstones. Australia allows tax-free imports of packages valued under $1,000 AUD.

USA

Tax-free and duty-free.

Canada

All shipments are subject to local GST/VAT regardless of the shipping method.

Australia

Tax-free and duty-free for orders up to $1000 AUD in value.

Europe

All EU countries impose VAT and import costs on all shipments originating from outside the EU.

UK

Standard Shipment delivered by Royal Mail is not usually subject to customs tax. Express shipping is subject to VAT plus an administration fee charged by the courier. UK taxes and administration fees are the responsibility of the importer.

Hong Kong

Tax-free and duty-free.

Mexico

Standard Shipment delivered by Correos de México is not usually subject to customs tax. Express shipping is subject to VAT plus an administration fee charged by the courier.

Singapore

Tax-free and duty-free for orders up to $400 SGP in value.

New Zealand

Tax-free and duty-free for orders up to $400 NZD in value.
